1. What we collect

We collect the business information you provide through quote requests, carrier and shipper applications, and portal accounts: company and legal names, MC/USDOT numbers, addresses, contact details, tax (EIN/W-9) and insurance information, equipment and credit references, shipment tender data, and messages you send us. Account sign-in details are collected to operate the portals.

2. How we use it

To verify operating authority, insurance and credit; to arrange, track, bill and pay for transportation; to prevent fraud and payment diversion (including independent verification of payment instructions); to respond to inquiries; and to comply with FMCSA record-keeping and other legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.

3. Sharing

We share shipment, billing and verification information only as reasonably necessary with carriers, shippers/consignees, insurers, factors/lenders (for assigned receivables), professional advisers and technology providers, subject to confidentiality duties — consistent with §§10 and 17 of the Broker–Shipper and Broker–Carrier Agreements. Information may be disclosed as required by law, subpoena or regulator.

4. Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards for account, shipment, billing and payment data. No system is perfectly secure: please report any suspected compromise of your account or a suspicious payment instruction immediately to a previously known SMAT contact — never redirect funds based solely on a new email, text or caller ID.

5. Your choices & contact

You may ask us to correct your business/contact information or close a portal account by emailing info@smatlogistics.com. Closing an account does not erase transaction records we must retain under 49 CFR 371.3 or for unresolved claims, billing or legal matters. This page is a website summary; the signed Broker–Shipper and Broker–Carrier Agreements control the parties' confidentiality and record obligations.
